2013-03-13: US Government Websites Targeted in opBlackSummer Attacks
Level Three Attack
Several US Government websites have been hacked as part of an attack dubbed "#opBlackSummer". The attacks appear to use XSS (Cross-Site Scripting) and SQL Injection to embed malware on the websites. Anyone who has visited these sites recently should check to make sure they have not been infected.
The affected sites include CBP.gov (Customs and Border Patrol), OPM.gov (The Office of Personnel Management), and at least one site managed by the Pentagon.
Because multiple sites have been attacked as part of the same action, this alert has been classified as a Level Three Attack (instead of the Level Two rating if only one site had been attacked).
